What Moms Do Online

September 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Demographics, Tactics

Moms are getting a lot of (well deserved) attention these days. The follow report further reinforces that Gen X and Gen Y use the internet for different reasons:

The top three activities of Gen Y moms are reading blogs, participating in an online community of moms, and creating and sharing their own video.

In contrast, Gen X moms are less attached to digital media as a whole. They are more likely to engage in task-oriented activities such as shopping online and uploading photos.

The top three online activities of Gen X moms are: using a photo site, rating and reviewing products, and shopping…

The study suggest marketers shift how they target moms online. Have you shifted your tactics yet?

BlogHer got a $5mil infusion of VC from Lifetime and others because of the reach of mommyblogging, even though the BlogHer community goes way beyond that.

Interesting post…I’m a gen X mom and know hundreds of other gen x moms to don’t fit this mold…many of us have been involved with blogs and social networking sites for more than 8 years.
